Robert and Kris Kardashian - 1978
Yes, the Kardashian sisters started here when their mother, Kristen Mary Houghton, married lawyer Robert Kardashian in 1978. However, it was a marriage that almost never was. Robert reportedly had to propose to Kristen two times. As we all know, they went on to have four kids named Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Robert Jr. However, the couple filed for divorce in 1991. Robert passed away in 2003 after a fight with cancer.
He had made a name for himself as a defense attorney for O.J. Simpson during his 1995 murder case. The two were also friends throughout their lives, having met while in college.
Mick Jagger and Bianca Perez-Mora Macias - 1971
Bianca Perez-Mora Macias was the only woman Mick Jagger ever married throughout his life. The two were wed in 1971 and enjoyed seven years together before Macias filed for divorce in 1978. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she cited infidelity on the part of Mick Jagger as the reason for the divorce. However, both Mick Jagger and Bianca Perez-Mora Macias admitted to having multiple affairs while they were married later on in their lives.
The two decided to get married not long after they started dating, and they had their wedding inside a church in Saint-Tropez, France. Mick Jagger began dating Jerry Hall a year before he was officially divorced.
Julio Iglesias and Isabel Preysler - 1971
Singer Julio Iglesias married his former wife Isabel Preysler in 1971. Preysler was a journalist from a wealthy family with an aristocratic background, while Iglesias was a singer. And if Iglesias's last name sounds familiar, then you might've heard of one of their children, Enrique Iglesias. The pair had two other children as well, named Chabeli and Julio Jr. Their marriage lasted for around eight years, finally ending in 1979.
The two originally met at a party, but it took weeks for Iglesias to ask his former wife out on a date. The two are still very much on good terms.
Tatum O’Neal and John McEnroe - 1986
Tatum O'Neal and John McEnroe were quite the couples. O'Neal had the distinction of being the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award when she won at ten years old, and McEnroe was Tennis's bad boy. The two got married in 1986, but they had been dating for two years, which is pretty long by Hollywood standards. They also had three children together named Kevin, Sean, and Emily.
However, things didn't last, and they decided to get divorced in 1994. The divorce was quite messy, with both parties accusing the other of taking drugs, and O'Neal would also lose custody of the children.
Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh - 1989
Actress Emma Thompson and Actor Kenneth Branagh certainly got off to a great start when they met in 1987. The two got off to such a great start that they were married only a couple of years later, in 1989. However, things didn't last. Despite constant and unexpected coverage of their marriage in the news and interest among the general public, the two filed for a divorce in 1995.
The two were divorced because Branagh had allegedly fallen in love with another actress you might know by the name of Helena Bonham Carter. Apparently, there was something to the rumors because the two later dated.
Alana Hamilton and Rod Stewart - 1979
Singer Rod Stewart married Alana Hamilton in 1979, and the couple went on to have two children. Hamilton was Stewart's first wife, but he would go on to have a couple of others while creating countless global hits. He also managed to craft quite a reputation for himself when it came to his love life. He and Hamilton finally got divorced in 1985, and Stewart went on to have six more children.
He also had two more marriages, and today, he is married to his current wife, Penny Lancaster. The two were married in 2007 and are still going strong by all accounts.
Madonna and Sean Penn - 1985
Madonna and Sean Pean were one of Holywood's power couples when they were married in the mid-1980s. Both were starting to garner some acclaim, and they both had just gotten out of relationships. They were married in 1985, but Madonna would second guess the marriage and briefly file for divorce bere withdrawing it. She finally settled on her decision in 1989, and the two were officially separated that same year.
Despite their separation, the two remained friends, and Madonna has described Penn as “the love of her life.” She even once jokingly extended a marriage offer to her ex-husband.
Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach - 1981
Ringo Starr really needs no introduction; the legendary drummer and member of the Beatles were and probably still is one of the most popular musicians alive. He married actress Barbara Bach in 1981 after the two had met on the set of a movie a year earlier. Starr had previously been married and already had children when he and Barbara met in 1980. However, that didn't stop the two from hitting it off.
Despite only knowing each other for a year before marrying, the two are still happily married today. They also have seven grandchildren and a single great-grandchild, a number that is likely to go up.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick - 1988
Together, actors Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have starred in countless movies. The two met on the set of PBS's Lemon Sky in 1988, but they probably never would've thought that they would end up getting married that same year. And unlike a lot of other celebrities on this list, the two are still married to this day. Of course, as you might imagine, that has led some to ask Sedgwick what the two's secret to a happy marriage is.
She's said that their secret is "to not take marriage advice from celebrities." She's also told People, "There has to be some piece of wholeness that is within yourself before you can let somebody love you the way that you need to be loved."
Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith - 1976 and 1989
Actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith first met on the set of The Harrad Experiment in 1973, when her mother was working and costarring with Don Johnson. Griffith was just 14 when she caught the eye of a 22-year-old Johnson. The two moved in together and were married in 1976, but that marriage only lasted around six months. However, the two would end up getting back together again in 1989.
The second marriage ended up lasting for around seven years, during which actress Dakota Johnson was born. And despite the second marriage not working out, the two are still close to this day.
Aretha Franklin and Glynn Turman - 1978
Legendary singer Aretha Franklin married Glynn Turman in 1978. When they were married, Turman already had three children. Turman eventually moved to Michigan, and the two's marriage was over a couple of years later, in 1984. Turman was Franklin's second husband. She'd married her first husband without the approval of either of her parents, but she did receive that approval the second time around when she found and married Turman.
Despite having many relationships after her divorce from Turman, she never remarried, and the two stayed close friends until Franklin's death. The two had been married in her father's church.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis - 1987
This just might've been one of the most fun weddings of the decade, but you could probably tell by looking at the wedding photo. There's almost enough confetti in the photo, which was taken in 1987, to make it unclear. And if you look closely, you can see another star in the background. The couple ended up having three children together, named Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. However, the marriage didn't last, and the couple separated 13 years later.
They still remained close, though, and Willis decided to get married again in 2009 to Emma Heming. Moore would go on to marry Ashton Kutcher in 2005 before the two eventually got a divorce.
Cher and Gregg Allman - 1975
Southern rock pioneer Greg Allman and music superstar Cher were married in 1975. This was Cher's second marriage and Allman's third. He would go on to have three more after he and Cher called it quits in 1979. However, the two did have a child together, whom they named Elijah. Cher is still around today and is perhaps famous as ever. However, Allman passed away in 2017 at the age of 69.
Cher ended up filing for divorce just nine days after they were married because of Allman's drug abuse, but she withdrew her decision, and the two made it until 1979.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono - 1969
This marriage might've happened a year before the start of the 1970s, but it was too influential not to put it on this list. John Lennon's marriage to Yoko Ono might've been one of the most popular and controversial of the last century. Lennon's bandmates were very happy that the two were married, but Lennon and Ono didn't seem to care all that much, and the two stayed together until Lennon's death in 1980.
Ono was Lennon's second wife, and while they were together, they had one child named Sean together. Ono hasn't remarried as of yet, and she still works on music, art, and peacebuilding initiatives.
Renata Blauel and Elton John - 1984
Music legend Elton John married German recording engineer Renata Blauel in 1984. However, the marriage was not meant to be, and the two decided to file for a divorce in 1988 after John announced during an interview that he was attracted to both genders. John eventually came out fully years after the divorce during an interview with the press. After the divorce, Blauel retreated from the public eye and hasn't spoken to the press since.
In 2007, John said that he had met with Blauel and that the two had finally had a chance to talk things over, but of course, Blauel has never confirmed this.
Mike Tyson and Robin Givens - 1988
To say that this marriage could've gotten off to a better start might just be an understatement. Mike Tyson married actress Robin Givens in 1988, but the marriage would only go on to last a year. During the latter half of the marriage, Givens went on to claim that Tyson had a short temper and was abusive. During the divorce, which was based on spousal abuse, a judge granted Givens a restraining order.
However, that wasn't the end of it, and Tyson went on to claim that Givens had stolen from him on her way out. Tyson's fans also berated Givens and claimed she was a gold digger.
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson - 1980
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson met while the two were still in college in 1974, and they were married six years later in 1980. And while Jackson has certainly played a starring role in plenty of films throughout his life, his early years at university with LaTanya might just rival some of the best scripts he's worked with. During college, Jackson actually held members of Morehouse College's board of trustees hostage when demanding school reform.
Luckily, that hasn't seemed to impact his professional or his love life too much, and he and Richardson are still married to this day. The couple has a daughter who now works as a producer.
Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden - 1973
For whatever reason, Hollywood stars are known for marrying... well, other Hollywood stars. So, it certainly wasn't the norm when Jane Fonda announced her marriage to politician and activist Tom Hayden back in 1973. Something must've been right about the pairing, too, because the marriage went on to last around 17 years before the couple finally decided to split in 1990. They reportedly split up because Hayden had fallen in love with another woman.
Perhaps it lasted so long because Fonda was into activism herself. Whatever the reason, it certainly could've lasted longer had it not been for Hayden. Fonda later said, "I didn't know that pain could be so bad."
Carrie Fisher and Paul Simon - 1983
Actress Carrie Fisher was once married to Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel. They actually met while Fisher was working as Princess Leia in 1977. Fisher later wrote in her memoir that "We understood each other perfectly. Obviously we didn't always agree, but we understood the terms of our disagreements," talking about her relationship with Simon. Despite an off-and-on relationship, the two decided to get married in 1983.
However, they divorced a year later, and Fisher never remarried. Simon had proposed at a Yankees game and even went on to write a song for Fisher about their relationship.
Karen Carpenter and Thomas Burris - 1980
Karen Carpenter and Thomas Burris apparently had a pretty hopping wedding when they were married in 1980. That's when The Carpenters first released "Because We Are in Love," but not too many people got to hear it. In fact, you had to be at the wedding in order to hear the hit song for the first time. That was quite a wedding gift from Carpenter, but it might all have been for naught.
She and Burris ended up filing for a divorce in 1982, but at least they officially released "Because We Are in Love" not long after their wedding, and the world got a pretty great song.
Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman - 1982
If actors and comedians Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman seem like a perfect couple on the outside, that's because they practically were. Both of them are known for their hilarious and groundbreaking performances. They were married in 1982 and stayed married right up until 2017. However, even after separating, they never officially filed for divorce, saying that they wanted to keep their family together. They have three children together.
The two also briefly separated in 2012 before getting back together to give their marriage another try, but it didn't work out, and they remain very close friends to this day.
Olivia Newton-John and Matt Lattanzi - 1984
Actor Gene Kelly introduced Olivia Newton-John and Matt Lattanzi on the set of Xanadu. Lattanzi was a dancer, and Newton-John was an actress. The two were married in 1984, but the marriage would only go on to last until 1995 after Newton-John confronted Lattanzi about a "close" relationship with a babysitter. Newton-John went on to have a relationship with cameraman Patrick McDermott, but that relationship also ended in tragedy.
McDermott disappeared while away on an overnight fishing trip in 2005. The coast guard ruled that he was most likely lost at sea. However, some in the Australian media have made unsubstantiated claims that he ran away to Mexico.
Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear - 1986
Heavy metal legend Tommy Lee married actress Heather Locklear in 1986. Looking back, it seems like the two wouldn't have much in common. After all, one was a drummer for one of the decade's premier heavy metal bands, and the other was a T.V. star. But the two made it work for seven years until their divorce. Lee went on to marry and have two children with Pamela Anderson.
Locklear went on to marry and have a child with Richie Sambora. Lee had been married just months prior to marrying Locklear, but that marriage to model Elaine Bergen only lasted around 30 days.
Donny and Debbie Osmond - 1978
Donny Osmond isn't as active today as he was when he married Debbie Glenn in 1978, but he was a teen idol and pop star back in the 70s. He and Debbie have been married since, and they both attribute their successful marriage to the Mormon faith. They had five sons named Donald, Jeremy, Brandon, Christopher, and Joshua. They also have 12 grandchildren in total as of 2022, but that number may change.
Although their peak didn't last very long, the Osmond family as a whole have sold around 100 million albums worldwide and ended up leaving their mark on pop and country music.
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton - 1975
Elizabeth Taylor may be a pretty big-name actress. However, she was also known for the sheer amount of marriages she had. In all, she married seven different times. So, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that her 1975 marriage to Richard Burton was actually the couple's second time tying the knot. Their first marriage lasted from 1964 to 1975. Their second only lasted from 1975 to 1976.
Their relationship was filled with drama, and it's still fascinating to look at vintage photos of the two during what was a golden era for cinema and the age of the movie star.
Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston - 1977
At 73 years of age, actor Jeff Bridges is still starring in hit Hollywood movies. However, he probably couldn't have done it without his wife, Susan Geston, by his side. The two married in 1977 and have been together ever since. Unlike many Hollywood couples, they didn't get married right after the meeting and had actually met in the early 70s. They went on to have three children together, and today they have a grandchild.
Bridges was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, then he contracted Covid, which led to a pretty serious health scare. Geston reportedly told the doctors to "Save his life no matter what." Apparently, it worked, as he is now in good health.
Joan Collins and Peter Holm -1985
Joan Collins and Peter Holm had a pretty rocky marriage as far as Hollywood romances go. This was Collins's fourth marriage, and she went on to marry again after she and Holm broke up a little over a year later. However, the divorce got a bit messy when Holm began asking the court for more money despite signing a prenup. Collins went so far as to get a restraining order against Holm.
She also called him "the most combative person I've ever met." Holm ended up losing his court battle and went to Sweden, where he eventually inherited money from a relative.
Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley - 1985
Billy Joel married supermodel Christie Brinkley in 1985, and the two would stay together until 1993. The two met while they were both vacationing in St. Bart's, and Joel reportedly stuck the same pose used on his album so that Brinkley would recognize him. Joel's legendary hit "Uptown Girl" was even supposedly a song about Brinkley. However, even that couldn't save the two's marriage as Joel's constant touring and being away from home eventually caught up to their marriage.
Joel would go on to marry twice after divorcing Brinkley and has two children with Alexis Roderick, whom he married in 2015. He and Brinkley had one daughter while they were together.
Bruce Jenner and Linda Thompson - 1981
Although Bruce Jenner (now Kaitlyn Jenner) is more famous for being associated with the Kardashians today, he actually had a previous marriage before he met Kris Jenner. He married Linda Thompson in 1981, and the two had a five-year marriage that produced two children. Famously, Thompson had been the girlfriend of Elvis Presley years earlier, and after her marriage to Jenner, she married music producer David Foster in 1991.
Despite the seemingly perfect match, the two eventually ended up getting divorced in 2005. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Kris Jenner separated in 2013, and Kaitlyn is now dating Sophia Hutchinson.
Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd - 1979
Eric Clapton found his muse in model and photographer Pattie Boyd. This wasn't Boyd's first relationship with a legendary rocker, as she was previously married to George Harrison from The Beatles. By all accounts, she and Clapton seemed desperately in love, and he even wrote several songs about her. However, all was not meant to be, and the two would end up filing for a divorce a decade later, in 1989.
Boyd had said that Clapton had a drinking problem that had taken its toll on their marriage, in addition to him committing multiple infidelities. However, the two remained friends years later.
Carly Simon and James Taylor - 1972
Carly Simon and James Taylor weren't the original folk music power couple, but they certainly dominated their era of music. Today, they're both members of the music hall of fame. Their marriage lasted for a little more than a decade, but their split wasn't clean. Taylor reportedly had a heroin problem, and there were reports that both parties had committed some infidelities. However, Simon expressed in her memoir that she held no ill will towards her ex-husband.
In fact, she said she still loves him, and "I still want to heal him; I still want to make him all right." However, there hasn't been any reported reconciliation.
Dorothy Hamill and Dean Paul Martin - 1982
Dorothy Hamill was a world-class figure skater who nabbed gold for the U.S. at the 1976 Winter Olympics. She married actor and singer Dean Paul Martin, son of legendary actor Dean Martin, in 1982. “We were a passionate love affair when we were together, but we both had so much growing up to do and unfortunately, we had to do it while traveling to different destinations,” she wrote in a recent memoir.
Eventually, Martin decided to call the marriage quits. They had been married for two years when they split. She still regularly calls him “the love of my life,” according to Today.
David Bowie and Angelina Barnett - 1970
If you're a really big fan of David Bowie, then you're probably at least somewhat familiar with his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. However, not many people know that it was actually his ex-wife who inspired the name. A 19-year-old model and actress named Angelina Barnett married David Bowie in 1970, and the two would go on to spend ten years together. They also had one child together named Duncan Jones.
Despite having a child together, the two avoided each other for 40 years. She later said that she didn't really have any love for Bowie and had called it a marriage of convenience.
Princess Diana and Prince Charles - 1981
Who could forget this wedding? Princess Diana's marriage to Prince Charles was fraught with drama, intrigue, and pretty much anything else you could think of. For some reason, their marriage still seems to pop up in conversations today. The two were married during a massive ceremony in 1981, but the marriage didn't last. Charles was accused of having multiple affairs, and Diana eventually got tired of it and called for a divorce.
The couple had two children, Prince Harry, and Prince William. Unfortunately, Diana died from injuries in 1997 after being in a car accident that took place in Paris, France.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver - 1986
Arnold Schwarzenegger was probably at or near his prime, career-wise, when he met Maria Shriver in the 1980s. Shriver came from a pretty prestigious family (she was the niece of John F. Kennedy), but their marriage came unglued a couple of decades later. That was when it was revealed that Schwarzenegger had been having an affair with their housekeeper. Not only that, but it turned out that he'd actually fathered a child who was 14 when the news broke.
The two filed for a divorce in 2011, but the whole thing wasn't finalized until 2017. There are rumors of Schwarzenegger having multiple affairs during their marriage, some he has admitted to and some he hasn't.
Lorna Luft and Jake Hooker - 1977
While her half-sister Liza Minnelli might be a bit more famous, Lorna Luft is a star in her own right. She is an actress and singer and the daughter of Judy Garland and Sydney Luft. She met and married fellow singer Jake Hooker in 1977, and the couple went on to have two children named Jesse and Vanessa. Unfortunately, like those of many others on this list, this marriage didn't last.
The two ended up calling it quits after about 16 years. Hooker died in 2014 at the age of 61. Luft got married to Colin Freeman after her divorce.
Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd - 1982
Although many are now familiar with the name Lisa Vanderpump from the T.V. show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, before that, she was a struggling actress. She married her husband, Ken Todd, in 1982, and the two have been by each other's sides since. She finally made it big in 2010, when the reality T.V. show deputed. Todd is a restauranteur and is reportedly worth around $90 million.
The two actually met at a bar that Todd used to own. She was 21, and he was 37 when the two met, and they were married three months later.
Suzi Quatro and Len Tuckey - 1976
If you're from the U.S., then you might not know who Suzi Quatro is, but she's actually an American rock artist who found success in the U.K. and Australia back in the 1970s. To date, she has sold somewhere around 50 million records. She married musician Len Tuckey in 1976, who performed as her guitarist after the two were married. They were divorced in 1992, but Quatro still lives in the U.K.
She and Tuckey had two children together. Quatro went on to marry a German promoter named Rainer Haas in 1993, and the two are still together to this day.
Jaclyn Smith and Dennis Cole - 1978
Jaclyn Smith is known for her iconic role working on Charlie's Angels, but that was also where she got to know her now ex-husband Dennis Cole. The two met while Cole was guest-starring, and they began seeing each other. The pair married in 1978 and divorced in 1981. Smith has been married four times throughout her life, but her relationship with Cole might just be one of the more famous pairings in Holywood during that time.
And this photo shows part of the reason why. She and Cole in this photo just scream the 1960s and 1970s; everything from their dress to their hair looks really iconic.
Keith Richards and Patti Hansen - 1983
You can't think of the Rolling Stones without thinking of wild parties, drugs, and just all-around debauchery. However, it seems as though not all the members of the Stones needed or wanted to party for the rest of their lives. Keith Richards is pretty much a household name, but it appears as if he didn't party as much as the rest of the group because he's only been married once, and that was to his partner Patti Hensen.
The two got hitched in 1983 on Richard's 40th birthday. The couple recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary, and they also have two children together named Theodora and Alexandra.
Donna Summer and Bruce Sudano - 1980
Often referred to as the Queen of Disco, Donna Summers was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. She met her husband, Bruce Sudano, while he was a member of his band, Brooklyn Dreams. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2012 from lung cancer. She and Sudano had two daughters, and they were married right up until Summer's untimely death. Summer's diagnosis came as a surprise to many since she never smoked.
However, she is still remembered very fondly today, and she pretty much epitomizes the 70s disco scene. She's also sometimes credited with laying the foundations for the electronic music of the next decade.
Ace Frehley and Jeanette Trerotola - 1976
Kiss might just be one of the most iconic metal bands of the last century, so to see their lead guitarist without all of his makeup on is a bit weird. In this photo, we can see him with his wife, Jeanette Trerotola, on their wedding day in 1976. This was only a couple of years after the band was founded, but it's still weird to see him out of costume.
The marriage supposedly only lasted around four months, although the two never legally got divorced despite separating, so technically, they're still married to this day. The couple had one daughter together.
Stevie Wonder and Syreeta Wright - 1970
Stevie Wonder was looking to take a break from Motown when he and Syreeta Wright met. Luckily for him, Syreeta was something of a musician and songwriter herself, and the pair seemed like a match made in heaven. They were married in 1970 and went on to write and produce a slew of popular songs together. The pairing helped Wonder develop as an artist, and it gave Syreeta the platform she always wanted as a songwriter.
Unfortunately, infidelity and arguments derailed their marriage, but the two continued to remain friends and even got back together a couple of times to write and produce songs together.
Peter Sellers and Miranda Quarry - 1970
Peter Sellers is sometimes credited with being one of the greatest comedians of all time. He starred in numerous shows throughout his career, which spanned decades, and saw him steal the spotlight in films like The Pink Panther. He married Miranda Quarry in 1970, who, unlike him, wasn't an entertainer or any kind of artist. Instead, Quarry was known as a hippy socialite and could often be seen at parties and with the rich and famous.
However, their marriage didn't last, and Sellers often accused his wife of having infidelities. The two divorced in 1974, despite originally making such a nice couple. Sellers reportedly even got along well with the in-laws.
Robert Smith and Mary Poole - 1988
This wedding photo is for all of those out there who had a goth or emo phase back in high school or if you're still into the look. Meet Robert Smith and Mary Poole. Smith is largely credited with bringing the goth look to music, and he could often be found wearing dark eyeliner and bright makeup, such as in this photo of the two on their wedding day.
Poole also played a pretty large role in shaping the band's music. The two lovebirds are still married to this day, and Smith can still be seen rocking his original style.
David Hasselhoff and Catherine Hickland - 1984
No, this isn't a 1970s advertisement for a Ferrari or a villa somewhere in Europe. This is Hollywood heartthrob David Hasselhoff and his first wife Catherine HIckland on their wedding day in 1984. The two were a power couple in Hollywood at the time. The two met and were married in less than a year, and we can see why, as they look like they're really happy in this photo.
And if the black trans am in the background didn't give it away, the two met on the set of Knight Rider. The two ended up separating in 2006 in what was a pretty bitter divorce.
John Denver and Cassandra Delaney - 1988
It might be the fact that John Denver's last name is Denver, or maybe it's the fact that we've listened to "Country Roads" so many times that we could just about sing all song by heart. Either way, we aren't the least bit surprised that he and Cassandra Delaney were married with this kind of scenic backdrop. However, things didn't remain very idyllic, according to Delaney, who said that Denver had a drinking problem.
We guess that's not too surprising, considering that there is a story of Denver allegedly cutting his and his first wife's bed in two using a chainsaw. Although, he really does look happy in this photo.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson - 1988
If there is such a thing as an under-the-radar power couple, it just might be Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. Hanks had two children from a previous marriage when he and Wilson met. In fact, the two reportedly began dating before Hank's marriage was finalized. Things went smoothly, though, and the couple was married two years later, in 1988. They are still together to this day, and you usually don't see one out without the other.
Wilson and Hanks now have two children of their own, and they have worked on a number of different projects as husband and wife, including My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Sylvester Stallone and Brigitte Nielsen - 1985
Sylvester Stallone was truly an 80s movie star, and we say that in the best way possible. After all, he's still an amazing actor and has put out some great films in recent years. But, when you think of movie stars from the 80s, his name is usually right up there with the best of them. He married model, actress, and singer Brigitte Nielson in 1985, and the two seemed to be having a splendid time.
However, they clearly were not, and they filed for divorce after two years. There was some confusion as to why they actually split, with both sides blaming the other for causing the marriage to fall apart.
Faye Dunaway and Peter Wolf - 1974
Actress Faye Dunaway and musician Peter Wolf were married in 1974. And despite the lovely-looking wedding and the very 70s hair, 1974 seemed to be bad timing. The pair were divorced in 1979, only staying together for five years. At the time, they blamed it on separate career responsibilities, but it was later revealed that the two couldn't manage the fact that Dunaway's career was taking off while Wolf's was faltering at the time.
The whole thing is a bit sad, as Faraway would later describe their relationship in her memoir. She wrote: "We were like two warriors standing shoulder to shoulder. That's how we used to think of ourselves. There was no ego clash between us, though we were always ambitious."
Diana Ross and Arne Næss, Jr. - 1986
Diana Ross has been a big name in the entertainment industry for decades now, being a singer, songwriter, and actress. She Arne Næss, Jr. while on a trip to the Bahamas in 1995, and things seemed to have gone well because the two were married a year later. Ross had been married to Robert Ellis Silberstein before meeting Næss, who was a Norwegian shipping magnate and avid mountain climber.
The pair had two sons together but decided to file for divorce in 2000. Unfortunately, four years later, Næss lost his life during a mountain climbing accident.
Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson - 1988
Even if you don't see them starring in Hollywood blockbusters or read about them online, odds are you've at least heard of the name Burt Reynolds or Loni Anderson. They were once one of Hollywood's most famous power couples when they were married in 1988. However, the two didn't last very long, and they were divorced in 1993. Reynolds later stated in his memoir that he regretted the marriage.
The divorce was pretty public and pretty nasty, with both sides insulting the other, which is kind of hard to believe, considering how happy the two look in this photo.
Audrey Hepburn and Andrea Dotti - 1969
Andrea Dotti certainly was a lucky man to have married Hollywood's Audrey Hepburn, and we think he probably knows so by the look on his face in this photo. The two married in 1969, but there were reports of multiple affairs throughout their marriage on the part of Dotti. After their son got old enough, though, Hepburn filed for divorce some 13 years later. She never ended up getting remarried.
However, she did enter into a long-term relationship with Robert Wolders, with whom she was until her untimely death in 1993. Sometimes, she would present Wolders to others as "My husband, Rob."
Meryl Streep and Don Gummer - 1978
Meryl Streep truly needs no introduction, and the actress is still wracking up accolades after decades of being in Hollywood. She married her husband, Don Gummer, in 1979. Gummer, a sculptor, married Streep only six months after the two met in London. They also met under pretty bleak circumstances, as Streep had recently said goodbye to her longtime boyfriend, John Cazale, who had passed away only weeks before she met Gummar.
She and Gummar have been together ever since, and they're often seen together in public and at award shows. The two now have four children and one grandson.
Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors - 1973
Unlike many of the celebrities on this list, Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors actually dated for quite a long time before deciding to get married. The two were officially wed in 1973 but eventually divorced nine years later in 1982. Still, their marriage was one of the decades most talked about, with Major's coming fresh off starring in The Six Million Dollar Man. Fawcett passed away in 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
She never remarried, though she did have a couple of long-term partners. She even had a child with one of those partners, Ryan O'Neal, an actor and professional boxer.
Michael J. Fox and Tracey Pollman - 1988
Back To The Future star Michael J. Fox married the love of his life, Tracey Pollman, in 1988. The two had met three years earlier on the set of Family Ties when she was cast as his girlfriend. The two are still married and have four children named Sam, Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esmé. Famously, Fox took a break from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's, and the two have since battled the disease together.
Fox has written about his experiences, and he and Pollman have a charity dedicated to researching a cure for the disease. They have often talked about their successful marriage publicly, saying they always assume the best of each other.
